Biography

Morris McClung, Photographer I joined a film club in 1973 for the primary purpose of obtaining the 35mm camera that was offered. It was a fixed lens, with a single speed shutter, which reflects the cost of the camera. But, when I had the first roll of film developed, I was hooked as a photographer. I was only twenty-three years old, married, and with a wife and daughter to support. My growth as a photographer was painfully slow. It was always only a hobby to me, until I purchased my first “real” camera in 1977. It was a Canon AE-1, and now my growth was limited only by my income, which was now devoted to providing for a wife and three daughters.

Since that time, as I was able, my camera system grew, as did my knowledge of the craft. Like most photographers that are self taught, the trial and error is mostly error, with a photograph here and there inspiring us to continue until we feel comfortable with the basics. At some point, I believe, we reach that point as artists to create something that exceeds our expectations. I’m not sure I have accomplished that to date, but the joy I receive in the attempt is what drives me on as an artist. We also need a subject that incites our passion for life. For me it is one of any number of places. I am completely enamored with Hawaii, and Colorado. I live in Parker, Colorado, and feel very fortunate that is possible. I also have been fortunate enough to have traveled to other places that are eminently photogenic. This site is a compilation of my impressions of these places. "
